I have very limited space on my desk, and wasn't happy when my lap finally stopped working (the switch broke). It had been on that desk for roughly 20 years!! I started searching for a replacement, and was shocked to see that the exact same lamp was still being made, only with a different shade design. I promptly placed an order, and when it arrived, took it out of the box and compared it to my old one. The plastic base is the same, just in black instead of white. The shade is a bit larger, but so far it isn't an issue, and the large switch is useful. One thing I did notice, though, is that you have to use a lower wattage bulb.
If you need a simple lamp with built-in storage, and are not looking for anything fancy, this should work fine. I wrote the date on the bottom to see if this one lasts as long as the original did!

Let there be light! Works great for the office stations for the kid's rooms. Matches with the bedroom colors and style. They love the cubbies on it.

The light does what I wanted but I do wish the neck was a little long and easier to postion.
