My father received this lamp as a gift from me. I purchased it on May 11, 2013 and today is July 30, 2013. This lamp will not work and the bottom of it turned black as though something burned out inside of it. It only lasted for 2 months! What a piece of junk and waste of my hard earned money.

This is the nightstand lamp for our Grand Daughter's room. She loves the "touch" feature on it and it is Purple so everything is OK. It is a good quality lamp and compliments her decor very well.

Only reason I didn't give this lamp a 5 star rating is because of the included bulbs that came with it. 3 low wattage nightlight bulbs were included with the lamp and were useless to try to read by. Luckily I had some 25 watt bulbs that fit the cantalabra bases this lamp has, swapped them out and now have a useful light to read by on my bed headboard. Really nice when I get sleepy just to reach up and touch the lamp and it's off to dreamland for me. I have had several folks compliment me on the shade this lamp has also. It's porpoise design and really goes will with the blue theme in my bedroom. Update---07/12/2013---The very first time a bulb blew out, the lamp quit working. I went back online and purchased a replacement dimmer control and when I opened the base of this lamp I found out why it went bad so quick. The dimmer control that comes with this lamp is only rated for 100 watts. Since I'm using 3 bulbs of 25 watts each, when 1 blew it caused a surge which took the dimmer out with it. I have replaced the dimmer control with one rated for 300 watts and it should last forever. I've used the same 300 watt dimmer on another touch lamp I have for about 3 years now and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. Even though the lamp is rated for 3 bulbs of up to 25 watts each, be aware that when I was working on the lamp tonight replacing the dimmer, I also noticed that 2 of the 3 bulb bases are now cracked. I don't expect this lamp to last very much longer and when it does crap out again, it's going to wind up in the trash and I'll get something more substantial. Don't buy this piece of junk unless you are capable of rewiring it and replacing shoddy parts.

The lamps I purchased had to be put together, which took about 10 minutes for each. They came with everything needed and were quite simple to put togther. They look even better at home than they do online and the black chrome finish is attractive. I have heard that touch lamps can turn on by themselves but that had never happened to me until one night the one on the opposite side of the bed turned on. I know my cats have turned them on before but there was no cat in sight. Oh, and I've had a cat knock one of them down without any damage to the lamp or glass pieces. Great product.

Requires a minor amount of assembly but very little and probably for the best as it is real glass and would not survive the shipping otherwise. Took maybe 5 minutes at the most to insert the glass and pieces together, so cant really complain. Felt it was a good gift for a dolphin lover! She had everything else under the sun with dolphins on it, so this was a no brainer to add to the mix.
