I bought a pair of these for our bedroom and I am very happy with what I received. They look just like the picture. The material is quite solid and sturdy (doesn't look cheap), and the overall look of the lamp is very smoothing for the bedroom. Overall very happy with my purchase.The base is metal and the middle post is quite think and noticeable. It's a nice lamp but if you are looking for a crystal base this is not it. The picture is deceiving
