The mounts themselves are versatile in how you can configure them. The plastic mounts do not however grip very well. If you remove the bolt from the mount you can screw the mount to a surface instead, using 4 factory provided holes on the mount, this is what I ended up doing.
These are really cheaply made, all 3 of mine came with a light dirty oil residue on them from manufacturing. It wipes off, but shows questionable quality control. The dome is supposed to twist lock in place, but none of mine would as the paint was too thick. The dome does stay on the light, but can be pulled off, rather than needing to twist and pull off. Again, not a big deal, but shows quality control is lacking.
For my workshop, I am very happy at the price.

Has long reach. Purchased similar too small. Can put this model anywhere on executive size desk. Sturdy/solid. Clamps also sturdy/solid. Have 3 in house. Have had 2 in last 2 decades. The lamp is made of metal and the build seems solid. It's held in position by 4 springs which should make it last. My previous lamp only had 2 springs and they stretched after a year of use.The mounts were designed mainly for horizontal installation so mounting it vertically is not the best option and will require some extra stabilization. I would have given it 5 stars if the mount was better.
Overall its a really good product.
