I know it is hard to get used to a "blue-er" light, but its only because we have been stuck with yellow light for far too long! These lights create a more natural sunlight color that is much more soothing. Switch out all of your bulbs with daylight color and you'll be amazed.

Was more like 3.5stars as all 15 types of 3-way bulbs seem to become 1-way brightness after a month or two, but I only use it for the bright setting 95% of the time.

For room with cool colors and light/pale tones...(blues, greens aquas, pinks that you do not want to fade to peach, etc,)

these bulbs are invaluable.

How often has one labored over colors and custom mixing of paints... in natural daylight, only to have so much of a room look wrong at night with artificial lighting?

There are rooms, however where I find the regular soft-white better.... but it all depends...

I make all color choices in natural bright daylight....and also look at all at night with whatever the evening lighting will be in the room before making final choices.. When I am doing this if I am going to be using incandescent lighting... (and it is very difficult to light a room appropriately or make it feel inviting and cozy without it), and I always try both the Reveal and the Softlight bulbs.

(For example I have done paneled libraries where the soft-white looks best, and others where the Reveal does, and found the same with red rooms).

Whichever looks best during this process, Reveal or soft-white, is the one I will always continue to use in that room.

Three ways are wonderful for libraries, bedrooms, living rooms... wherever you need to be able to relax and read, but also might light dimmer lighting for entertaining or just conversation.

YES these are fragile bulbs, (should be stored in their boxes....they are not good for rooms where anyone bumps into lamps,) and yes I wish they would last longer, but as there is nothing else like this on the market I just wish GE would fix this! (my pet peeve is that when they start to burn out the highest of the 3 way settings burn out first... But when this happens i just move the bulbs to a lamp where the lowest only wattage works well.

I was pretty disappointed with these bulbs. Out of the 4 bulbs that I ordered, the first 3 burned out immediately when installed in the lamp. The last bulb lasted 2 weeks after installing it and then burned out. (The metal base even came off when I tried to remove it from the lamp!) Pretty surprising from this manufacturer who is generally known for quality merchandise. Don't know if these were seconds, rejects or just inferior merchandise. Won't buy again.

Honest reviews on GE 97785 50/100/150-Watt A21 3-Way Reveal Light Bulb

I would definitely give this bulb 5 stars based on light quality but they don't last as long as I would like. I have go through maybe 1 year in a lamp that I don't use very often. I find that the light is great for reading or working on projects but any vibration kills these bulbs. I like the 150 watt variety as it gives a better range of brightness settings. Although I only gave it three stars this is the only bulb I would use for my lamp.

The Reveal bulbs do what they're supposed to; the light they produce has much less of a yellow tint to it. They last about as long as you'd expect a normal light bulb to last, but they are a bit overpriced. In Walmart these bulbs go for nearly $8. They are a luxury, but if you prefer the less yellowish-tinted light, I think they're worth the few extra dollars, considering you'll only need to replace them about once or twice per year, depending on how frequently you use them.
