I don't feel TOO stupid because there's hardly any description on this item; though I should have looked at my saw rather than assume this is what I needed. This piece REPLACES the 90 degree plastic bend that comes with the saw to which the collection bag attaches. You can NOT attach this adapter to the end that would normally hold the bag.

Because of the long throw on this saw and my already limited space, I can not have the vac hose project straight out from the back of the saw with this adapter. So, if you're using this on a stationery bench versus a movable table or in a portable situation, make sure you have plenty of roomat LEAST 4 feet for the entire saw + hose debacle.

It looks like I'm going to have to custom modify something for my needs. 'Just when I thought things were going to get easy...

I just received the adapter and can not believe how big it is. If you put this on the milwaukee saw instead of the standard dust port, the saw will stick off the wall an extra 3.5" plus your hose. They should have made the adapter bend 90 degrees down or up, but instead have it pointing directly towards the back of the saw. If you have the adapter in place and hook up a shop vac hose, the fence of the saw will be 27" off the wall. Ridiculous. Not good engineering. I guess the American tool companies have not caught up with bosch and festool when it comes to footprint size and dust extraction. You would be just as well off picking up a shop vac crevice adapter at the big box store for six dollars and modifying it. I am dissapointed that this is Milwauke's best effort for coming up with a solution for dust collection to a shop vac.

I purchased this adapter after experiencing about 50% dust collection using the supplied bag packaged with the 6955-20 SCMS. When I used this adapter paired with a Ridgid 2-1/2" shop vac, I experience 85-90% dust collection of very fine dust from a fine tooth finishing blade. Greatly reduced my time spent cleaning up.

I haven't tried this adapter, and I'm not going to. I can see by it's design that it will push the saw further out from the wall, and I don't want that.

I've just hooked up my saw, and my workaround for the problem is to squash the end of a 4" hose into an oval shape, where it fits around the elbow that comes with the saw. Wrapped with self-adhering tape (like X-Treme Tape) it works quite well. Smaller hose sizes will fit inside the elbow, and when wrapped with tape might work, but I haven't tried that approach.

I used clear hose for its flexibility. When I used a stiff hose it pushed the saw out along its tracks, and made adjustments to the saw much harder.

had this for a while now. It does what is suppose to. Glad Milwaukee saw that we needed normal vacuum attachment need!
