The base is a beautiful cobalt blue, no purple at all, and substantial. A good stable balance for the relatively wide shade. The flowers in the shade are purple when the lamp is off, but when lit, they read blue. Workmanship on the shade is excellent! None of the raggedy solder lines I have seen on shades from other lines (not Dale Tiffany) of Tiffany style lamps. Very pleased!
