I used these lamp harps on two table lamps. There was adequate room to accommodate my cfl light bulbs and the fit was secure.

We bought two new table lamps with 3-way sockets. They also came with 8" harps that
would barely accept an old fashioned 3-way lamp. We bought these harps to adapt
the lamps for CFL 3-ways. For some strange reason the manufacturer supplied these supposedly broad range general replacement units with the smallest possible locking sleeves. Like a previous reviewer my shades and new harps were flopping all over. In the end we applied a little effort and were able to exchange sleeves between the old and new harps. PROBLEM SOLVED.
We gave this product only 3 stars because this retired mechanical designer believes
that a product like this should have more size range designed into the sleeves.

They look very nice and the price was certainly good but the little round caps at the bottom of the harps are too small to fit over the lamps harp holder. This causes the lamp shade to be loose in the holder and thus unsecured and misaligned. Take your old harp to a good hardware store and make sure the securing caps of the new harp are the same size.

Fits a large CFL, easy to mount. Only negative is that the sleeve that should lock the harp in place does not fit down because the part of the harp that fits into the base is too large for the typical base, This is not a significant problem because there the harp exerts sufficient outward pressure on the base to hold firmly anyhow.
