This was perfect for what we needed. We use it on a large desk. The desk lamp we had was LED and way too bright, hurt the eyes. This lamp not only looks classy, but the light is fine for reading and working at night, but not blindingly light. The height is just right and the swing arm comes in very handy.

We've been using it for a couple months without problems. It is attractive and solid with a nice dull/vintage gold color. I could do without the little marble ball but it's not obtrusively tacky. We are very big on swivel arm lamps in this house of readers.
