I need a lamp on my table as my floor light was kind of far off. Though this lamp would help brighten my room. But the light is very faint even with it sitting beside me. Its more like a night lamp and throws direct light down about 7 inches and up. Could you be used to light up some dark corner. I dont see any other use.

I own 6 Ikea Orgel lamps (because I love the Orgel design!) -two standing floor lamps, one hanging ceiling lamp, and three table lamps. Unfortunately over time, the Orgel table lamps start to tilt to one side, even if everything is completely tightened, because the base of the lamp is a bit flimsy and you must pull on one side to turn it on (alternating sides with the on-switch does not help with the tilt, it actually makes it worse).

But the Magnarp here totally avoids this issue with a *much* sturdier base and power cord-based on-switch. The two lines of lamps look the same -same materials, same square-ish design (though the Magnarp is rectangular, which actually sits on a desk better as it is more out of the way). Yet the Magnarp here is half the price of the Orgel table lamp and by far better durability. I love both lines regardless, but the construction of the Magnarp base alone would be worth the extra cost (if it cost more than the Orgel).

The Magnarp base is propped up slightly with four small rubber feet, whereas the Orgel relies on carefully placed felt to close off the initially open bottom of the lamp. The felt base on the Orgel means the lamp will slide around if you bump it, whereas the Magnarp sits sturdily in place. Moreover the stand of the lamp (part connecting the base to the shade) is thicker on the Magnarp than the Orgel -which both looks and feels more durable. Overall, if you like the look of the Orgel, you will like the Magnarp even more.

We got this lamp for our bedroom to compliment the Orgel floor lamp in our living room. It is a darling lamp, perfect for our bedside table. The 2 free bulbs (the lamp only requires one bulb), are a very nice perk, as we could quickly assemble and turn on the lamp within minutes of opening the package -plus, there's an extra bulb for later.

Very happy with our purchase.
