Don't get me wrong, i LOVE the lamp!!! It is quite unique (with that adorable little lantern deal) and is perfect in my little stone house, or for those who enjoy just a touch of whimsy. The finish is pretty, but I didn't really see any resemblance to "bark"... or maybe I got that confused with the lamp that looks like tree limbs (also a Kichler lamp, in the same Woodlands Collection.) To me, the finish seems like kind of an "oil-rubbed bronze" but not quite that dark. It's just paint, folks. No moss or lichen growing, no mushrooms cropping up next to it (yet.) I don't think it resembles a tree, or anything else growing outside. In retrospect, I am not sure what I was expecting. I was just sooooo enchanted with the "lantern", I guess I just thought the lamp was going to transport me back to childhood or something. And on that note, I expected it to be biGGer. But, again I think this was a psychological issue; the lamp measures as described. I love that you can turn it on 3 ways just the little lantern, the lantern and the lamp, or just the lamp. I have just a little white "night light" in the lantern, but for even more "whimsy" a green (or any coloured light) might be fun. I REALLY appreciate having the "turn on/off" knob actually ON the lamp, and not on the cord (cheesy.) The shade is VERY nice, both colour and fabric. It's satin-ish, as described...& "oyster." (NOT "cream" like lots of cheap shades.) Actually the lamp is as described, and I DID get that "shopper's shiver" of delight when I finally got it out of the box(es). I think I was just expecting a Disneyland Experience. Everyone (well, girlfriends only, really) who had visited since I got it has said "Oooh, Cute!!". Oh, also, the lantern does not come off, it's wired to the lamp, but not obviously. Yeah, I love it. I would have loved it a little more if it had been about $100.00

I LOVE what these two lamps do to my living room! When I'm no in there, the little lantern lights give a wonderful ambience. During the day when they are off, their simple beauty makes the room special. And in the evening when I'm enjoying reading time they are so welcoming. I always look for something unusual, different from ordinary. And I found exactly that with these lamps. Looked at hundreds on the internet until I found them. Always find what I'm looking for on Amazon! Thanks guys.
