I swear by Ott-lights as I have vision problems and work at desk/computer at all times of day/night. This light allows me to easily move the lighting around where I need it and I always customize the base(s) by securing directly to my corner desk/wood raised monitor station with screws. Wonderful product. Replacement of the bulbs isn't often, and they are a bit tough to change-out but well worth it.

I work from home at a desk so you know the scattering of notes and papers that are laying around. The small room has one light that is behind me on the ceiling making for shadows and low light in front of me where I need light the most. I had been using a desk model Ott-Lite for some time and loved the even cool light but really needed something with flexibility that I could swing around where needed.
I have had the Ott-Lite Clamp-On Task Light for a few weeks now. There was some assembly required but no tools were needed and the parts fit perfectly in place. So far I'm impressed. The light is even and cool with only a few seconds warm up time on the bulb. Considering it is made from plastic, it does not have a cheesy feel and stability is really good. When you move it to a new position it stays right in place. The revolving bulb hood is also adjustable and also stays in place no matter where you aim it. The unit does not flop down suddenly or creep over time. The clamp holds the light onto the desk edge securely with only hand tightening. It was nice recouping the space that the desktop model took up.
The light it projects is sweet and amazingly easy on the eyes. I can go the distance with much less eyestrain and without the free sunburn you get with most conventional or high intensity lamps.
I'm thinking that replacement bulbs might be expensive but my older desk unit is still pumping out light after a year of daily use without a bulb replacement so I'm not overly concerned about it.

This is the best desk lamp I ever had. I didn't have a place to clamp it on my computer desk so I put it on a desk next to it and the swivel works great. It also has a flexible arm and a head that rotates 180°. The lighting is fabulous because it is almost completely glare-free even with my glossy finish monitor. It also lessened my eye strain and the light is not harsh at all. I use the 13-watt VisionSaver light bulb and think the lighting is just right for computer use. The draw back I heard on the lamp was that it was expensive and the arm could break, but I have not had the arm break in about eight years. The price appears to have come down from when I bought it.

I really like Ott-lites. I use it in a medical office and it gives good, true color. Wish the bulbs weren't so expensive but they do last a pretty long time.
