This lamp fits the bill exactly for what I wanted. I use it on the vanity in the bathroom, and it provides just the amount of subdued light that I wanted. Not exactly enough light in the evening to not need the overhead, but enough to be able to see comfortably to find the room. We have larger, actual oil sea lanterns elsewhere in our home, (which we never light) so these are a nice little electric version. They are a nice nautical touch to our nautical-theme inspired home.
