I have to suspect that 100% of the people who buy this lamp will do so for the shade and no other reason. Given that, the quality of construction of the shade is poor. It is made of plastic. Do not let anyone try to convince you that it's some special type of magic glass that just feels lighter it's plastic. Period. The shade is also coated in a strange oily residue that's very, very difficult to clean off. It left a dark stain on my fingers as I tried to remove it.

At this price point I can't recommend the lamp. It shouldn't cost any more than $100.

Beautiful lamp. Nice quality. Can also read by it. Have received numerous compliments on the lamp and didn't even tell anyone it was new. Looks good with our furnishings and decor too.
