I use the timer to operate an outdoor pump for a waterfall. Initially, I had trouble understanding that all the pins had to be pushed in except for those correlating to the time. Once I figured that out, the unit does the job. I would recommend this product.

I wanted a timer to turn off a garden fountain at night, and this does the job perfectly. It was a little awkward to mount, needing two screws in a stucco wall, but it works just fine. I really like that it doesn't use little pins to get lost. It is mechanical, so I hope it will have a long life.

Used in the upright position as directed, the unit lost time continually (1 or 2 hours per day approx.) and sometimes seemed to get stuck when it reached an ON pin. Tests in different outlets got the same unsatisfactory result.

OK, first off there was a loose piece of plastic in the timer rattling around in there. Not very comforting. Then it looked like the 'previous owner' tried to pry the plastic timer cover off its hinges. And there were scratches on the plastic case.

Then let me tell you, these were the worst user instructions I have ever seen. Who writes these things? The 'pins' are not really pins but rather minature black piano keys. And you don't push them toward the center of the dial. YOU PUSH THEM DOWN to set them. Just put the thing on its back and push down on the top row of what looks like black piano keys. That's how you set the range.

Now, the next thing was the power cord that came with this thing. It is so thick and short that it practically springs the timer off the wall. The timer is rated for 15 amps for krisake. And the cord is only one foot long. I had to go buy an extention cord and clamps to mount this thing on the wall.

Was it working? I don't know yet. At this time I am running it to see if it runs. Remember that broken plastic piece? So far it looks ok. We'll see. I don't like bad-mouthing products and I picked this one for its simplicity. Mechanical and on/off on a timer. However, if I knew then what I know now I would have chosen a different timer.
