I don't know what the problem is but none of the five bulbs in my order worked. They were 100% broken, non-functional garbage. Waste of my time, money and effort. I am not about to check and see if this was atypical. Beware.

So far these light have not burned out. I know I wrote a review on these lights and I might has said they burned out after 30 days but once I replaced them after 60 days in use their stilling lighting up my front yard at night. I do recommend you clean lights with some light alcohol on a cloth to remove finger prints from the light and to install use the same alcohol cloth finger prints.

I have a motion activated security light with two bulbs. They both burned out within days of each other. I bought the three pack so now I have a spare. The bulbs arrived in good condition and I am pleased with the purchase.
