if you're looking for great quality, don't bother. the shiny plastic base came with enough scuffing on it to irritate any buyer. but it's too bothersome to return and honestly, my kid won't care. i put a night light bulb in it, and the shade closes completely over the base and glows red, which is what i was after. good red night light for my older kid.

Firstly, I love how cheap this is, and I'm fine with it being all plastic because I accept that as being a part of how it can be so cheap.

Important Info not yet listed: The max wattage for the E12 bulbs this lamp accepts is 40 watts. I read this on its label but did not see it in the description.

Mini Review on main feature (the light color):

The shade on this lamp causes all light emitted to be red. It would be nice if they had a picture of a dark room being lit by it so people could see (perhaps I'll post one in the future). Also, the light emitted is not powerful enough to light a room. I like to think of it as a powerful night light. If you're close to the lamp, you can do some peaceful night reading. The red color is very relaxing. I've never bothered trying out different colors of light besides regular white light and I must say I find it very relaxing.

2 solvable issues:

Issue 1: There was a lot of heat on the top of the shade that rose up from my incandescent bulb. This can be solved by using a more efficient fluorescent bulb. They are easily found online or at Lowes & Home Depot.

Issue 2: The weight. This thing is extremely light weight. My lamp is on a desk with the cord hanging freely off the desk. Sometimes when I grab for the cord it will completely pull the lamp. I have to be aware of this to make sure the lamp doesn't slide off my desk! I plan to add some sort of weights to the lamp to fix this.

One Concern: It says this lamp has a dimmer feature? As far as I'm aware it's just a switch to turn it on and off. Granted I think it would be real silly to even need a dimmer feature for a lamp of this power, but I guess it would be cool to have. Really curious if there's something I'm missing, but I genuinely doubt there's a dimmer feature on this lamp.

I have two of these they are great night/reading lights. The red light doesn't disrupt your sleep if you fall asleep reading, which is the greatest benefit.

Unless you are throwing a retro themed party and don't mind your room being red, don't buy this. I bought it thinking this would be durable (unbreakable) since it is plastic, and that IS the only benefit.

It lights up the room RED. Who wants a red room? And it's also very dim. We are using this as a night light now.

Design is clean and retro like. Shade is plastic and snaps on and off. Very strange lamp.

Cute, but does not have a standard bulb. Is a little smaller than I thought and does have that flimsy Ikea feeling to it.
