Purchased to go in down-directed lighting over a kitchen table. They work nicely for illuminating without having a bulb shining directing in your eyes

Originally I had a traditional 40 watt bulb in the hanging light fixture over my kitchen table and felt it wasn't bright enough so I replaced it with a traditional 60 watt bulb. While that was bright enough, it also kind of blinded us as we eat dinner. Then I found these "sliver bowl" light bulbs thinking they would solve the problem of the light being too bright coming straight down. It did solve that problem, but the 60 watt silver bowl bulb was dimmer than the original 40 watt traditional bulb so I purchased a 100 watt version of the silver bowl bulb. The 100 watt bulb is maybe as bright as the 40 watt traditional bulb (i.e. still not bright enough).

So, bottom line, the silver bowl cuts out a LOT of the light.

Slide note: I purchased 4 of the 100 watt bulbs, the first one I installed burn out in 10 minutes!
