this is a classic lamp that looks much more expensive than it is. it has a solid base and the proper dimensions and detail to fit in a library or office. the only thing that im not crazy about is the gold thread on the lampshade, which close up looks a little bit arts&crafts, but its not that noticeable unless youre 6 inches from it, and its not a deal breaker. in fact, i ordered a second one because i really loved the overall look of the lamp and the classic brass and black color scheme. its also worth mentioning that this lamp provides very elegant light (it comes with 3 compact florescents but i prefer good old fashion 25 watt incandescent bulbs) because of the black opaque shade with gold interior reflects the light very nicely.
