The lamp is quite small. At first I was nervous because the lampshade was so small that it almost touches the lightbulb inside. I was afraid if I left it on it would get hot and melt. But it neither gets hot nor melts after 24-48 hours of constant use. Probably the high efficiency bulb that it uses...I'm old and used to old lightbulbs....heck, when I was growing up you could bake a tiny cake in a plastic oven with nothing more than a lightbulb.
Groovy lamp. Sturdy.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a small, nice looking accent lamp. The shade is plastic but looks like glass from a distance. The base is metal. The bottom has a felt covering so it can be used on surfaces that might scratch easily. It does not use standard lamp bulbs. The bulb has a smaller "candelabra" type base. You have to use a CFL (fluorescent) bulbs not a standard incandescent one. A bulb is supplied with the lamp.It needs to be emphasized that this is an accept lamp. It is meant to add a decoratative touch to a room. This is probably not going to be bright enough to use a reading lamp or any application that needs substantial illumination.
A couple of annoyances: There is no switch on the lamp itself. There switch in on the cord about a foot from the lamp base. This means that wherever you place the lamp, the cord must be accessible to turn it off and on. If you intend to feed the cord behind the back of a table or desk, that will be as problem. I knew when I ordered it that this was the case, but still, a switch on the lamp would be much more functional. Although the shade is translucent, you can see the bulb when it is lit (the swirls of the CFL bulb). It doesn't look quite a nice as it could.
Despite the gripes this is an attractive, very low wattage accept lamp that looks more expensive that it is and I'm pleased with it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I had wanted a lamp just like this and would have been very pleased to purchase it at this price had it not been given to me for review. It's not for reading because the bulb doesn't give much brightness. This is strictly a very soft blue light to help make the transition to sleep. This serves as a large night light, and doesn't use much energy doesn't get hot, only slightly warm at most. It dramatically improves the atmosphere of a room that would either have too bright lighting late at night or would otherwise have only a computer monitor providing non-soft light. It softens a room, makes me feel ready to call it a night and somehow good about it.
Before electric lighting entered people's lives, humans had a different sleep rhythm that was more satisfying and made people far more awake during daylight hours. Now we have a lot of new literature about sleep hygiene. One thing recommended is to reduce lighting prior to sleep. This lamp does that in a way that feels natural and good to me.

This blue light is better than expected. It's helpful to have a blue light as the only light prior to bedtime.

I bought one for my kids room. I let them fall asleep with it on and they love it.
Honest reviews on Normande Lighting FP3-203 13W Daylight Spectrum Rocket Accent Lamp
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Normande Lighting Spectrum Rocket Accent Lamp is a cute, small lamp that makes a good choice for a desktop or other place where a small amount of lighting is needed. The lamp comes with its own light bulba fluorescent bulb that uses few watts and costs little to operateand it ready to use in minutes out of the box. This little light is nice as an accent lamp and I find it produces just enough light that I can use it at my computer desk while I surf the internet. The level of light is too dim for much else, but it is just right when a small amount of light is all you need. The blue shade encompasses the bulb and it shines blue when the lamp is in use, for a reasonably attractive appearance.
While I can certainly agree with the cuteness factor of this light, I must admit that it isn't the perfect lighteven for a small lightfor several reasons. For one, I do not like the fact that the switch is located on the cord. I have the lamp placed on my desk with the cord leading to the rear of the desk, toward an outlet. This means that, to turn the light on and off, I have to constantly reach for the cord and pull it forward to get my hands on the switch. I would like it much better if the on/off switch was right on the lamp itself. Yes, the lamp is small but the manufacturer could have figured out a better place to put it.
Another quality I'm not so thrilled with is the changing of the bulb. There are three small screws that need to be handloosened to remove the shade and get to the bulb, then refastened by hand to put it back on. This is less convenient than I prefer, and in addition to that, the shade is flexible and it doesn't really fit perfectly inside the base. When you handfastened the screws, you will notice that the shade now has a squashed appearance when viewed from above, looking down. You don't notice this when viewed from the side, which is the way most people will view the lamp, but I am still a little surprised that the lamp shade was designed this way. It would be better if it was more solid and fit perfectly in place.
Overall, however, this is still a decent little lamp and it does look cute on my desk top. The amount of light it produces isn't much and it does have some other problems, but it has enough good qualities to recommend.
