I grow orchids as a hobby and have been supplementing the natural light with OTT-LITE lamps for a number of years. As another reviewer wrote, the bulbs themselves are expensive and near impossible to find, but from time to time I find deals (like on Amazon) for the lamp and bulb together. I also use OTT-LITE long fluorescent-type tubes. BTW -I don't understand how the other reviewer had the experience of having the bulb fall out. In my experience, once they're in, they're not going anywhere!

I know this is marketed for orchids, but I use it for house plants during the winter when the sun does not provide enough light to keep my plants healthy. I have seen a noticeable improvement since setting it up and would recommend it.

I was originally impressed with how sun-like the light of this lamp was. However, after doing more research it turns out that this cool light lamp was not enough to sustain the kind of orchid I had (just the regular kind you can get at Home Depot)--apparently you also need at least 1 warm heat lamp in addition. In any case, my orchid died, and the light bulb didn't last that long. As the other reviewer noted, replacement bulbs for this are very expensive. Not recommended.

This is a very versatile little light. Bright. Full spectrum. Would give it five stars if it was just an inch or two taller.

Bulb immediately fell out and broke. Yes, I had it in correctly. When I went to buy another, it cost more than the light itself. Wasted $20. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced bulb for this light?
