This lamp is BEAUTIFUL, hands down the best lamp that I've ever owned, and if I had the room for it, I'd have bought two. The light is diffused wonderfully and it gives a soft glow that's easy to read by.

Okay, important info: The lamp will take only B12 or Candelabra Base bulbs. You don't have to buy the Ikea bulbs, but the Ikea bulbs are Compact Florescent Lights and last for a very long time. It'll take any Candelabra Base/B12 bulbs, and I recommend CFLs for their lifespan.

The lamp DOES NOT come with bulbs included, so buy the bulbs with the lamp. It takes 3 bulbs, and it takes 40w bulbs MAXIMUM. That's 7w in CFLs and 40w in incandescent bulbs. I tried 60w-equivalent CFLs and it tripped the breaker when I tried turning it on. Bad idea, but it taught me a valuable lesson about actually paying attention to the maximums.

The lamp takes about 2 minutes to put together, and it comes in a box that you'd think would be entirely too small for it. Leave it to Ikea to fit a 5ft+ tall lamp into a small box.

The lamp has a foot stomp switch to turn it on, but you can plug it into a standard outlet with an on/off switch. It does not work with dimmers, to my knowledge (especially if you have the Ikea CFLs in it).

Again, the lamp is a great addition to my bedroom and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Purchased 2 of these lamps from IKEA @ $20 each (GREAT BUY!). This floor lamp is an excellent addition to ANY room (living room, bed room, dorm rooms). Small footprint. The switch is a step-on switch part of the power cord (convenient). Takes 3 model E12 light bulbs, again IKEA sells a 9W (40W equivalent) 2-pack for $5. I think the floor lamp caps out at 40W max, anything above is probably a fire hazard (i.e. 3 x 100W bulbs isn't recommended). Overall, an excellent buy. Highly recommended!!

Lamp looks good. Ship was fast, however no bulbs were included. I had some regular spare but they wont fit. Special bulbs are needed for this lamp so it is a hassle to find the appropriate type.

I've had this lamp for over 6 months in our living room. Considering the price, I didn't expect it to be more than mood lighting; but it actually does a great job of filling our small living room with soft, bright light. I bought this at IKEA and bought the recommended light bulbs at the same time. One of the bulb is flickering now (the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5), and I don't know if the problem is the bulb or socket. The paper shade has held up to our cat rubbing on it and pawing at it (declawed). I think children or pets could tear the shade, but so far it's held up and survived a move.

Update: I've had this lamp for 1.5 years so far and give it 5 stars. The flicker stopped, I think we didn't have the bulb in all the way. One of our kittens managed to rip it a tiny bit on one side, but other than that it is still holding up!

I do not live close to a Ikea store..so was so pleased to see this lamp offered on Amazon..

this lamp would look good with any decor..

offers enough light to read by..but no glare, i am thinking about buying a couple more and eliminating a couple end tables.
