I have used these light bulbs for years and love them. The light lets you see color rather than washing it out in a blue or pink haze like other bulbs. They are also easy on the eyes, I find reading by these lights too be much easier, less straining, than by fluorescent bulbs. I read longer, which is worth the price for me.

This bulb is one that should become the standard as Halogen runs slightly hotter but has cleaner light which reduces eye strain and lasts twice as long as in standard bulbs the tungsten burns off and attaches to the bulb slightly diminish the output and in halogen it returns to the wire which is why they last longer.

but they run about 5-6 at local stores so the price is a bit high

These bulbs give light on low that others can't duplicate on high. I'm happy I bought them. I feel they are efficient too.

We have had these bulbs for a few months now. And the lighting has not been noticibly improved. But the worst thing was that while reading our morning newspaper the bulb exploded with a loud noise sending glass shards scattered around.
