I ordered this as a gift, and it arrived with some glue or finish mottling the top of the wood base. It also had a screw that was broken sticking out of the base of the bulb socket (when I tried to see if it screwed in, it simply dropped out, because the screw had broken off somewhere in the socket!). Lastly, the pole through which the cord runs was jangly and loose. The gift recipient really liked the lamp though, and I was happy to exchange it...except that when they received that one, the base was cracked! Same loose screw, even looser metal implements that house the cord. While it is not a very costly lamp, it is pricey enough that it should at least go through some sort of quality control. It was embarrassing for me because it was a gift (though it looks quite lovely, the quality makes it seem cheap). Nice idea, but a failure in execution (unless I managed to get the only two defective lamps). I've been interested in other Adesso items at Amazon, but will avoid this brand in the future.
