Leviton staff read my original review, and contacted me. The company's engineer sent me another one, free of charge, as an opportunity to give the product "another chance." Well, it paid off for both Leviton and myself! The new one works perfectly, as designed, and is everything I hoped the original one would have been. If you do buy one of these units, and it doesn't work right, exchange it for another, and odds are, you'll be very happy with it!

Don't hesitate to buy a Leviton product! My past experience with Leviton products have nearly always been good, and their response to this matter has only reinforced my confidence in buying their products in the future.

Really liked the design & specs, and had great expectations for it. Plugged it in, plugged a 5 (yes, five) watt lamp into it, started to program it, and all of a sudden it started buzzing loudly (my wife witnessed it, too, so I'm not nuts). Smelled it, and it smelled like hot or burning electrical wiring. It's now on it's way back to amazon.com. Too bad. I'll probably buy a competitor's model locally, if I can find one with similar features, and if not, I'll try one of it's brothers at amazon when they're in stock, hoping that "Quality Control" means something for the other model.

I had to replace a bunch of old electrical table top timers the non-digital variety. They had gotten so noisey it was hard to sit near them. Saw these and ordered a few to try. Simple to program, completely quiet, accurate time and events perfect for me. Leviton hit the mark on these and the price is right. You cannot go wrong. Ordered again to replace all my lamp timers and a couple plug-ins to boot.

Connecting this up requires that I bend the plug contacts apart as it wouldn't get power from the wall socket. The screen is kind of small which makes it hard to read. Setting on the end table next to my shair it is imposible to read. It needs to be at a 45 degree angle to read it. It is easy to program. It does work great and the override is easy to use when needed.

I shopped a bit for the right timer switch and so far so good with this control. I really like it. The ability to sit it on the table while its plug and the plug of the load are way down on the floor is great. It sits nice and solid. Programming this is a bit tricky, and the instructions are helpful in only a cryptic kind of way. The process quickly makes sense after you mess up a couple of times. Just remember that a single "Event" consists of an "On" AND an "Off." Another plus for this timer is that it keeps accurate time so it will work well in applications where precision on and off times are crucial. This was a problem with all the Intermatic switches I have used, but not this Leviton. I have had it installed for a couple of months now and it is still in step with my cellphone clock that I used to set it. Note that I have only had it on wall power the whole time. The backup battery has never had to kick in.
