This Chinese-made lamp is actually a little bigger in person than the picture might lead you think. Not a bad thing though. Very attractive lamp, but when you get close up to it, you notice some quality issues. The bottom base and the vertical "arm" of the lamp are two separate pieces that screw together, and there's a very slight color difference between them. They appear to be cast metal, but the surfaces have been unevenly prepared for finishing. Some areas have obvious sanding/milling marks, others are still the slightly rough surface you get from the casting process. The front-mounted rotary on/off switch (the lamp in the picture doesn't have it) was also installed about 1/8" off-center on my lamp. The description says that the shade is made of glass, but it *might* be plastic...it's really hard to tell.
This lamp arrived less than 2 days after I ordered it, and was shipped directly from Meyda. It arrived disassembled (shade separate from the base), with each piece wrapped securely in bubble wrap. However, there was no owner's manual or assembly instructions included in the box. You'd think they'd include something.
So overall, it's nice, but I think a bit overpriced for its level of quality.
