This little lamp is both attractive and effective. It comes with a compact fluorescent tube that puts out a very bright, white light although there's about a half-second delay after you hit the switch. The styling is clean and contemporary, and the lamp does not tip over even when you extend the "arm" forward as far as it will go. However, the whole thing is made of plastic, and feels kind of flimsy. The adjustable tensioner that keeps the arm in position has to be tightened frequently easy to do, but still and the translucent plastic shield that covers the fluorescent tube is held in place with tiny little plastic tabs. So, 4 stars overall good design, plenty of light, kind of a cheap feel to it.

This purchase was worth every penny. I love this lamp. The natural lights works best for my fluorescent-sensitive eyes and the base is so small and compact for a tiny college desk. Great buy!

Great Lamp. It takes up very little desk space. It is well balanced so it doesn't tip over. It directs the light to where I need it and want it. I can work late night or early morning hours at my computer with the lamp on and not distrupt other family members with bight lights as a ceiling or larger lamp would. I have nightly wanderers who use to keep telling me to go to bed so they could sleep. My lights were keeping them awake.

Bought this a few months ago. The light is pretty dim, but that didn't bother me so much, as I just needed a spot of light. What's worse is that this lamp overheats when left on for an extended period, and the cheap plastic actually MELTS, so the room smells like burnt plastic. I had to throw it out after a few weeks.
