I have previously had difficulty finding a small lamp that would allow a three way bulb. Many small lamps will only allow a small watt, small bulb. This one matched my requirements for a small lamp with a 3-way bulb. It is as pictured and looks nice on a small living room table. The harp fits well, is stable and there is no wiggle. I would've have preferred a clear cord (it has a gold one that matches the base) but still would've have purchased this lamp based on it's other qualities. You can see the gold rod that goes up the middle, but it is very subtle and doesn't distract from its understated classic design. Of course, I would've liked a lower price as well but the lamp works and looks great so I'm very satisfied with it!
