Lamp is beautiful ... but a critical design flaw resulted in the lamp breaking within a year. The lamp 'neck' and base are cast metal, and at the point where the zig-zag teeth adjustments are installed, the neck is cut halfway through. So, there's just a little bit of metal holding the neck together at the two adjustment points.I recently found this lamp sitting broken on our piano, snapped off just below the lower adjustment where the rod is cut half-way through. Since nobody's fessed up to it yet, I don't know if someone was trying to move it while dusting, or tried to tilt the lamp without using the lamp adjustments.
So, this is a very nice lamp, but be forewarned ... it's got some design 'features' that make it flimsy and susceptible to breakage.
One other minor irritation we noticed while the lamp was working ... the lamp switch is a 'turning wheel' style that's in the power cord about a foot away from the lamp itself. This lamp sits on top of an upright piano, so we had to awkwardly pull up the power cord to find the switch whenever we wanted to turn the lamp on or off. It would've been much nicer to have the switch on the lamp itself much more accessible.
