I have been using Tolomeo lamp by Artemide in my work office for ten years. Evetually I decided to buy one for my personal use. The only negative for Tolomeo lamps is the price about $500. When shopping for Tolomeo lamp I noticed MODO lamp that looked identical to Tolomeo, but at less than half the price!!!
I contacted the seller, and got the lamp. The lamp is gorgeous exactly what I expected. It is modern, well built. Just as my former favorite work office lamp. After I received my first lamp I ordered the second one.
As it turned out MODO TL-06 is similar to Tolomeo Classic by Artemide. MODO was the contracted manufacturer for Artemide before 2001. After patents expired MODO now makes generic Tolomeo series.(MODO is made in Taiwan). The only difference is the base size. TL-06 has a smaller 200mm base (8 in) comparing to the popular brand. The base is about 1 inch smaller in diameter and about 1 lb less than the popular brand classic size. The base though is really heavy, I do not see a need for it to be heavier. No worries there. MODO provides warranty for one year.
The seller responded to my questions in a timely manner, and the lamp arrived fast in a couple of days.The lamp is great. Great design, very good quality product that will be lasting for decades. MODO is a world leader in design, this lamp clearly show it.
