We looked at arc floor lamps for a couple months...they kept disappearing, so to get something tall enough with a good 6' or more reach, we found the chrome, steel, etc ones were way too expensive. I had always liked this one, but we saw this lamp online in a couple HGTV shows, the lamp shade looked so large, it turned us off. However when push came to shove this was the lamp that fit our needs..the lampshade is fine.
Here is what we needed, a lamp that would sit in the corner & reach across a path to give my husband light for his chair. As it happens, this lamp is more of a half arc...the actual light stays up high, so it lights a good part of the room.
We do have vaulted ceilings, it is a good thing, because this lamp is almot 8' high. So if you do not have vaulted ceilings, rethink purchasing this light.
Assembling...pretty straightforward. We did not attach the shade first as directed, we know ourselves, we would break that plastic shade (it looks very nice, it is not flimsy). It is not easy to get the first tubes aligned so they are straight, otherwise it went together fairly easy. Took us a couple hours, but we are in our 70s & had to take a couple breaks because of arthritis.
I definittely recommend this light.. Lite Source even included the bulb!
