I bought this lamp to replace another halogen lamp that finally broke on me after many years of use. It really works well in the space that I need it for. The 100-watt halogen bulb is more than bright enough, plus the floor dimmer will dim the light all the way to off. I bought it in black, which is a low gloss black finish. The lamp is fully adjustable, height-wise as well as angle-wise. The picture really doesn't do this lamp justice! It's sturdy too, with a heavy base, and arm adjustability that is firm and not too loose. The only thing bad I can say about it (and this probably goes for any halogen lamp) is that the lamp head really gets hot after it's been on a while...you don't want to touch it or even look into the bright light...but it's a great reading lamp!!

This lamp does what I wanted it to do lightwise; it's not too hot to sit under while I'm reading and give good light. It looks fairly nice, though I've got a couple of more pharmacy lamps that were nicer-looking and less expensive. My complaint is that it putting it together, there was no east way to screw the lamp pole to the base. Therefore, I ended up crossing threading it qnd can't get it straight. Years ago I bought two of these for my mother when she was suffering from macular degeneration. After her death I gave one to my in-laws and kept one for my wife. I finally decided that I had one for myself. A very helpful reading light.
