California, and perhaps other states, are outlawing these bulbs so stock up now. GE makes great light bulbs. In general, the Compact Fluorescent lamps that the government wants you to use put out light that makes people look ghastly and they also present an environmental hazard. The CF bulbs contain mercury in very small amounts. However, that amount is toxic.

Bulb was in a typical flimsy bulb package but was not wrapped in anything else. There were some loose air bags because I had other items in the same box but there wasn't even enough air bags to keep everything from moving around. Took out the bulb and noticed that it rattled so I figured it was broken. Put it in the lamp and the second I turned it on it blew out. Horrible. How they did not realize it was rattling before they packaged it is beyond me. It's easy to hear. Not happy.

I bought these two of these bulbs in early December for a 3-way floor lamp. The first one has already failed less than 4 months later, the only way that could use the 1200 hours of life is if I used the lamp for 10 hours a day...which was not the case. I have installed the second bulb and will be keeping very close track of the hours it works.

Bought these to replace 3-way CFLs that I bought locally at a supermarket. They didn't work as 3-ways, so I returned them to the store for a refund and purchased these from Amazon. So far they work as I expected incandescent light bulbs to work.
