Lamp was shipped promptly and arrived in good condition. It arrived missing a connector for assembly. I've contacted the seller to request a replacement part and will advise in comments. Be aware that the shades are plastic, not glass. One of the shades is slightly discolored. I plan to keep the lamp if I can get the part, but would probably not have ordered it had I known about the shades.Follow up: Seller contacted me promptly and mailed the part. Lamp assembled easily and looks good. I would prefer glass shades, but then again this is a $500-1000 design in a sub-$100 product. I'll get plenty of use from it before the shades turn color. It does use standard base incandescent bulbs, and would probably fit CFLs although I don't use them unless I absolutely have to.

We were looking for a light that is bright enough and at the same time can be used for directed lighting ( as a reading light). The adjustable angle makes it very convenient. We use energy star fluorescent light bulbsIt gives a lot of light without heating up.
We like the look of the lamp. We selected this after a lot of online research and there were not too many contemporary looking lamps at this price range.
The customer service was very satisfactory. The seller promptly sent a replacement lamp when one of the pieces did not fit well and followed up by email and phone.

Nice lighting, gentle on the eyes. Lamps swing to any position. Very easy to assemble, just run the cord and tighten two screws I would purchase again.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Contemporary Pillar Floor Lamp
The lamp arrived and the box was pretty beat up. Looked like it had been returned. Upon further examination it was in good condition. Looked all around for the instructions only to find a small picture printed on the side of the box. Tried to put the thing together and was cursing the whole time. Here's a bit of advice, when you put the rods together start from the top. Screw the rods to the lamps first and finish by attaching it to the base. If you start at the base and work your way up you'll get stuck on the top. The screw connector can be adjusted. You can unscrew\adjust them in and out of the rods to give yourself more slack when connecting to the base. You also need to pull the cord out to take away the slack as you attach the rods.It was really annoying to put it together, but once done the lamp looked good and was pretty sturdy. The switches are pretty conveniently place and easy to turn. The cylinders can be tilted to shine the light at whatever angle you wish.
