I purchased this lamp about 2 month ago and I can honestly say that it is the best snake-arm lamp I have ever used. I directly mounted mine to a utility desk that I use for building small-scale models and it is a real gem. This thing really holds its position at ANY angle. I used those lamps from hobby stores with the springs that would always loose their hold after about 1 week. With this lamp, it was not the case at all. It has been holding the same since the day I got it, even with me constantly moving it around in different positions.
The great thing is that it provides a TON of light! I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing light output I go from using the suggested 100-watt bulb. It has a metallic shield on the inside that helps direct all of the light towards my models. Lastly, it's easy to handle. I can't remember how many times I got burned with other lamps. Though it gets warm, you will defiantly never get burned with this lamp.
I highly recommend it to anyone that needs a high quality lamp that features wonderful mobility and placement options not to mention an industrial quality build!

This lamp had issues from the start and I thought it was the bulbs. This thing does not work with all the bulbs and sometimes it turns on and sometimes (with the same bulb), it does not. I waited too long to return it. It's crappy. The construction tho is very sturdy and the neck stays put. That is the best feature. The electrics, however, failed.

This lamp was purchased to replace a similar type lamp bought at a well known office supply chain a few years ago. Of the dozens of similar lamps offered by Amazon this one looked like a good bet. What a pleasant surprise when I opened the box! First noticed is the careful way the lamp was wrapped and packaged. After unwrapping, the quality of the design and construction speak for themselves. This is a well made product constructed from heavy material that should survive whatever you throw at it. I was apprehensive about the 'C' clamp base, most I've seen are quite flimsy and tend to bend as you tighten the screw. The clamp on this lamp is not going to bend no matter how tight you make the screw, it would easily support my body weight without bending. The shade is double walled with an air space between the inner and outer walls AND a finned aluminum heat sink above the bulb. It stays cool to the touch. Finally, I used a relatively heavy LED bulb that has it's own heat sink and weighs 4 or 5 times what a regular incandescent bulb weighs, the gooseneck held steady, it didn't budge with the extra weight. Overall a good purchase, I would buy another if the need arises.
