The Fitzgerald appears to be the Cadillac of table-top fans. It can mount on the wall, as well as on the table-top (easy-to-use hardware for wall-mounting is included), and is heavy, powerful, and well constructed.
While you may be able to find a cheap plastic table-fan for next to nothing at some department store, the Fitzgerald was not meant for that particular, low-end utilitarian market.
The Fitzgerald works perfectly as a table-top fan, but it was also created as an art-object and as a lovely decorative piece for a person's home.

I mounted it on the wall in my tiny bedroom. I have it plugged in to a remote at the wall outlet so I can turn it on and off without having to get up. It's very cute. It ocillates but also has a pull up switch to keep it from oscillating. The only drawback I can think of is it's not all that quiet.
