I thought I had found the right desk light/magnifier. But I was only 1/2 right. The light is superb and highly recommended. The rest, not so much. Unfortunately, this particular product is a package deal. The back of the base would lift up slightly when the arm was extended and pulled down for close-up work. The plastic lens was cracked (right out of the box) for about 3/8" where it was secured to its frame. Overall, the quality was not what I expected.

I bought this Ottlite because I design and make jewelry. I needed the light and magnifier for my close work with small beads, findings, needles and thread. The light and magnifier are wonderful. BUT the arm that holds them will not stay in place, even when you tighten up the adjustment bolt as tight as they will go. You cannot position it any way except straight up, or it will just fall to the table. I even called Ottlite and spoke to a very nice person, who said that there was a set of washers that would fix the problem and sent them to me for free. However, they did not help at all. I am very disappointed with the function of this lamp. I would not recommend this lamp to anyone.

Purchased for my Wife, who works at the computer all day. She gives it 5 stars for lighting. She says its like natural light. The magnifying lense works well with the mouse print that is on all contracts, an she really loves that feature. The other personnel in the office ordered them one as well after viewing hers. I bought ours from Kens Sewing Center and was very pleased with them as well.

I am hand-sewing something made from small pieces of black cloth. I ordered an OttLite 982003 Spin and Store Desk Lamp in White to park next to my chair.

The lamp arrived in good condition. Assembly took perhaps 5 minutes (the instructions are vague in not illustrating clearly that you have to turn the shade upside-down to snap it into place).

The lamp emits a bright, pure white light. The base is heavy and supports the lamp without any wobble. Overall, I mostly like the product.

I DON'T like the fact that the lamp can't be stretched far off vertical the clamp slips, and I can't tighten it more with my fingers. Using pliers will probably yield only a broken knob. I call this a silly and major design flaw.

RECOMMENDED WITH RESERVATIONS.
