I got this to replace a magnifying light I previous had which died. It had a long articulated arm and took up a lot of space; the goose neck mechanism works quite well and does not waste space. While the magnifying lens of this lamp is slightly smaller, it is clear and not distorted and it is glass. Mine gets a lot of rocks dust which would quickly ruin plastic. The bulb burned out in a few weeks. I ordered 2 more ns when I tried to replace one, it would not work. I tried the second one with same results.Why? I opened the bottom to find the ballast had burned out. So now I have two replacement bulbs and no lamp. It was sent to the recycle pile for a long rest. Just another to buy American or Canadian

I purchased this lamp to use to see jewelry markings, and in future will probably use to do cross stitch as my eyes are beginning to strain without assistance. It is a good size, lightweight, with a large lit magnified area. It has met my needs to date.
