I found this lamp with a filter for a dimmer switch turned on. The two that I bought, despite the description, have no dimmer switch. But they do accomplish my other goals my toddler has already knocked one over and turned over the nightstand on top of it, and it didn't shatter (unlike its predecessor, a ceramic-bodied lamp) and no serious harm was done (he managed not to crush the shade). It's OK value for money, and more durable than the ones I had before. I bought dimmable LED lights to go in them (also durable) but the dimmable feature turns out to be unnecessary.
