The metal bar that shows only at the top in the picture runs the entire length of the lamp, so it is not as pretty as pictured. It comes in a very large box with lots of packaging, so I figured it was too difficult to get it all back together again to return and kept it.

Pictures really can't do this lamp justice. It's beautiful. The base is really elegant and the shade doesn't look "cheap". It's also a nice large size. (not sure if the product description gives measurements, but you won't be disappointed. It's not puny.) But in hindsight, it's a tad on the expensive side for what you get. Just my opinion.
