I wanted a small size dresser top lamp with a brushed metal finish to blend in with our new "look" of mid-century modern. This lamp is perfect! It arrived quickly, was packaged with good protection and easy to pull together...I say "pull" because you pull the cord through the metal support/flexible neck and out the bottom of the base.A third hand is helpful to hold the top half of the stand while you carefully screw it into the bottom half of the stand, but you could probably do it yourself....just go slowly so threads aren't stripped. It does come with a fluorescent bulb and provides good light. I don't use it as a desk lamp, but the light looks like it would work well there, so might get another one for our desk. It really looks good without being a large, bulky size like our old lamp. I would definitly recommend this to others.
