I ordered this fixture with the intention of using paper lanterns instead of the glass shades included. It looks great. The cord lengths are adjustable, and you will likely need to adjust them as the entire length is over 5 feet. Unless you plan to cut and splice, the excess cord will be loopy and drapey, as shown in the picture, but much more so. I am pleased with the installation and the quality, especially for the price.I'm glad to have it over the kitchen counter it looks very nice also my friends love it I'm very happy with
