I purchased this light happily, because I thought it was going to be really bright for a corner I wanted to illuminate. Unfortunately, after it arrived, I noted that it only takes a 60 Watt bulb, max. I was disappointed, but decided to keep it anyway, just because it works with my decor. The metal is a bit cheapish, the fabric shade is nice. All said and done, it's a nice enough light and looks cool. The best feature is the on/off switch which is on the electrical cord and you can step on it to turn the light on and off.

We ordered two of these lamps for our bedroom, and they are perfect. We put Philips 60 watt LED bulbs in (12.5 actual watts), and they provide the perfect bedroom ambience. Not too bright, not too dark. The shades cast a nice soft beige light on the room. What I love most about this lamp is that it fits in lots of places. It's also a great height not too tall and not too short. In fact, that's a large part of why I purchased it. It is fairly sturdy and the shade is a pretty decent quality. It also looks great.The main cons of this lamp are that it doesn't provide very much light on it's own, and it's relatively easy to knock over if it's on carpet because it doesn't weigh a lot. On a hardwood or tile floor I think it would do better. Granted, I've never knocked this lamp over. But in a high traffic area, I could see that happening; it is easier to knock over than a traditional metal lamp.
That said, this is still an amazing lamp. I looked around for a while trying to find something like it and didn't find anything else that had the same quality, height, and visual appeal.

I'm a big fan of low ambient lighting. There was no indication or literature that came with the lamp as to what wattage of bulb to use. After trying several bulbs I found that an 11 watt bulb was perfect. I have a dark corner in my living room that didnt require task lighting just some light. The lamp looks like a big glowing candle and balances the whole room. I was really put off by the lantern lamps with steep price tags that had shades made of rice paper. These lamps add an attractive modern accent to the room. The Asian-inspired design reminds me of something from West Elm, or Crate & Barrel. As a pair, they bring a nice symmetry and balance.The construction is solid, but these are not heavy duty lamps. The lampshade is flexible, but it could get a permanent crease if it bent too much. The vertical rods are hollow, and capped with plastic inserts. The circular bands could warp if the lamp has a hard fall. Because it has 3 legs, it can be knocked over easily by a child or pet. I have to be mindful of my 2 year old who tries to lean on the lamp and step on the switch. The switch is a foot-pedal on the cord. The lamps i received do not have a dimmer.
The measurements on the description are accurate , but I imagined the lamp to have a stronger "presence" in the room. It is too tall to change the bulb from the top. As another review suggested, it's easier to lift the shade and change the bulb from the bottom. But be careful not to bend the shade or press it too hard.
The lamp shade is ivory white, so the "warmth" of lighting will depend a lot on the type of bulb you choose. I am using a 60watt soft-white bulb, and it seems very bright to me if I'm watching movies. I might try a plain incandescent bulb with a lower wattage, and see if it will produce a "warmer" mood lighting.
Overall, I'm very happy with the lamp's style and quality.

I went through Amazon to get free Super Saver shipping. I'm glad I did, because the Amazon return policy saved me some grief.
I ordered one lamp initially. The lamp arrived on time, and the box showed a little bit of wear. The lamp inside was wrapped in a single plastic bag, appeared new and unopened. As I unwrapped the lamp, a small square piece of plastic fell out. It was about 1/4 square inch in size. It was part of the end cap which plugs the vertical rods on the lamp. There are 2 caps per rod (1 top and 1 bottom). I inspected the other end caps, and out of the twelve, only one was broken. The rest of the lamp was fine: none of the rods were bent, and the lamp shade was undamaged. Some super glued fixed the end cap.
I decided to order a second lamp to pair with the first. The shipment arrived on time, but the box showed considerable wear. A corner was crushed in, there was a small hole, and it was extremely dirty, possibly got wet. Again the lamp was wrapped in a single bag, but the bag seemed roughed up, had small holes and showed wear. There was even a long hair clinging inside the bag! (yuck). Unwrapping the lamp, a small plastic piece fell out, so I knew one of the end caps was broken again. The lamp shade itself had a dent in it, and the rim seemed scuffed or dirty. I went through the Amazon return process, shipped it back, and opted for a replacement.
The third lamp arrived on time. This time the box looked considerably better. Inside, the entire lamp was wrapped in a single bag, AND the lampshade itself was wrapped separately as well. Again one of the end caps was broken, but easy to fix with some glue.
I'm not sure why the condition and packaging for the same item would be so drastically different. If you order this lamp, I suggest you go with a vender that has a good return policy, in case there are any problems.
