This is a nice looking lamp. Looks like it does online. The finish on tubing that runs from the base of the lamp to the shade, however, peeled off when removing the tape that was applied to it as part of the packaging. Wasn't enough of a concern to go through the hassle of returning it (just turned the lamp so the damage is to the wall side), but the application of the material on the tubing is not good. If you get this lamp and I still think I would order it again be very careful with the removal of anything attached to the tubing.

Pros:-Personally I like the color of the lamp. Its more of a medium dark brownish color, not the almost black of the restoration bronze style. So it goes with my wood floors fine.
-Height is 70", there are many torch lights out there that are shorter. I wanted something close to 6 feet, so I'm pleased with the height.
-The lamp shade is mostly brown. If you have a three way bulb and have the light turned up to 150watts the shade has an almost amber like color that I found pleasing. You can read by it if its turned all the way up, but its not the best light to do so and I wouldn't do it for very long.
-Overall its an attractive lamp and it feels mostly solid so I'm not too concerned with it tipping over.
Minor cons:
-Glass shade is full of small bubbles. Its certainly not visible when the lamp is on (otherwise you'll hurt your eyes staring at the light), but in daylight and standing close you can spot it. Its a minor annoyance.
-I thought the other reviewer complaining about the cheap styrofoam was exaggerating a bit. He wasn't. The stuff just crumbled at a touch and made a giant mess trying to take the lamp out of the box. I had to eventually cut the box away with a utility knife so the stuff would stop crumbling. This was annoying too.
-If you have to move the lamp, like for cleaning, I don't recommend grabbing it by the pole. Yes, it is fairly solid and has a heavy base, but it only attaches about an inch maybe inch and a half into the base. It would be very easy for it to bend or break off right there. The base is large enough that it could have accommodated more of the shaft and made it both sturdier and less likely to tip over. This is however, a very minor gripe.
-I dont care for the switch. I don't think its attractive, but most importantly I find it flimsy. Every time I turn the light on I worry that its going to break off.
Major Cons:
-Price. At one point it got up around $170. I payed less and I still think I over payed for the quality and features. I don't think lamps like this should be over $100, unless they really are of high quality and design. Looking around the internet the lamps that had the features I wanted were over $200 which was out of my price range. So I would say this lamp is a little pricey.
-The packing foam must have been fresh stuff, because some of it was literally stuck to the wiring and base. It was like liquid foam which I had to then clean off. I wasn't pleased by this.
-The base has feet on it and what looks like little pads on it. Except the pads look like brillo and don't cover the feet completely. If you happen to drag your new lamp over something like a wood floor you will scratch or damage the floor. I went out to HomeDepot and picked up some pads so the floor wouldn't get scratched.
I don't consider wasting my time fixing the manufacturer's mistakes particularly endearing. I think I would have given this lamp a 4, but the lack of attention to detail from the manufacturer and the price knocks it down to a 3 for me.

I must say these are some beautiful lamps! We purchased 2 of them and they are incredible beautiful and amazing and goes well with our home interior decor. Very modern. I would definitely suggest to others to buy if you are looking for something different and modern.
