Inspired by the lovely golden hue of the Philips Imageo CandeLight set, I thought this would be great for camping as it's rated for outdoors and is plastic instead of glass. These arrived today packed about as well as I've ever seen an piece of electronics. The devices charge well, are nice and light, yet seem well constructed and not flimsy, as I was worried about.

The bad news: They are just dumb LEDs without any of the magical flicker of the CandleLight set, which I highly recommend and are one of the most used sets of household equipment we have. Worse, their color tone is a dull, off white and nothing like a glow of that set. So, you may enjoy them depending on your needs but with the similar name and the wonderful experience of the other set, these are just 'OK'. Giving four stars since they're well designed and built and do exactly what they advertise they do.

Finally, they are actually pretty bright, unlike the other review says. Yes, in an already lit room, they would be washed out, just like a candle. No worries on brightness here from my point of view.

The picture of these makes them seem more elegant than they are. I thought they were frosted glass or polycarbonate, and were votive style, but they are just white plastic all around.

Pros

They are turned on and off with the flick of the wrist.

The charging plate is easy to use

Nice at night or during a power outage to find the bathroom/kitchen

Cons

The body is all plastic including a plastic top of a slightly different shade on top.

The light is a steady white plastic glow, no flicker, no ambiance.

Need to be recharged frequently

Update August 2012, I've upgraded from 3 to 4 stars as I have now had these for over a year and they still function as well as when I bought them. I use them almost every day. They have been very useful when the power is out to be able to find the bathroom at night, walk around the house in the dark.

These lights are not bright enough to read from. They are almost not bright enough ALONE to eat from other lighting is needed. However, they are fun, easy to use and recharge, and create a very nice mood. We ordered other lights for reading now, and use candles most of the time to eat anyway, and now really enjoy these lights to supply mood lighting in the evening around our tables/displays/etc.

I bought these for my 90 year old mother to use as night lights where there are no electrical plugs. These rechargable table lights make the perfect night light. They hold charge for about 5 6 hours. The light is brighter than a normal night light, so they illuminate a larger space, making it easier for her to see where she is walking when she gets up during the night. In the morning she puts them back on the charger and they are ready to use again that evening. I love these lights.
