I bought this with the idea that it would reduce clutter on my desktop/nightstand particularly with plugging in my computer AC cord and charging iPad or iPhone. I thought this was a great idea. In fact, I ordered 4 through the OfficeMax website. The lamp is surprisingly well constructed out of all metal (therefore the two stars). I was even suprised to find that it had two USB ports. HOWEVER, the USB ports do NOT work on ALL four lamps. Therefore it cannot be a mistake. AC power outlets work and therfore you must plug conventional adapters with USB ports into AC outlets for . Before writing this, I gave OfficeMax a chance to respond. They said I could return at my expense. I asked if I could exchange for a working lamp but they said they did not know. I asked if they cared or if they would contact their supplier. They said they had no way of doing this and literally looked up the manufacturer's website on the internet (they had no contact number on file) and gave me the URL of the Australian manufacturer. I contacted Catalinalighting.com.au and filed a complaint and gave them 3 days to respond even though they said it will only take 48 hours. Overall, I call it poor customer service despite great idea if it had worked.

These simple little lamps are a great way to get electrical outlets topside of your desk without making a horrid looking mess. They cast a nice, warm light, but will accept any standard bulb.

The USB ports do not work on this. I assumed ours was broken, but based on the vague information in the instructions and comments from other reviewers on this website and other office supply companies, it appears they are not supposed to work unless you somehow supply extra power, which would be ridiculous. I consider this false advertising and criminal. The product should not be sold. The sellers should take back any units without customers being liable for any shipping charges.

This is a dumb product. Yes, the lamp works fine, but I'm giving it 1 star because the inclusion of USB ports is completely misleading. The ports are not powered, you have to power one of them with another cord to a conventional power outlet. So now only one of the USB ports is actually usable and you have a stupid extra cord running off your desk. Why not cut out the middle man?! It's a completely worthless "feature" and not properly explained until you open the box.
