I ordered this to help me with my board soldering. What I got was nothing like the description or picture. Maybe the suppliers changed the product without telling Amazon. Who knows? What I received was a wobbly, all plastic, low to no light piece of junk. The power switch is located on a hard to get to area in the back of the base. There is no black enamel finish. The thing is all plastic. It also doesn't adjust well. When I tried to move the adjustable head the whole lamp tips over. It puts out practically no light at all. The bulb that comes with it is terrible. The magnifier was okay but is no good if you can't see what you're doing. I can't believe that I got charged over $30 for this piece of junk. I saw something similar to it at TJ Max for $9. That is still too much. I sent it back for a refund. I told the people at Amazon about this and I see its still being posted here. Buyers beware!!!

I have used this desklamp with magnifier lens for several hobby projects, and it is a great little lamp. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it needs a little heavier base to keep it from tilting or falling over.

Product is okay as a desklamp but has a few problems if you intend to use the magnifying part a lot.

The base is a little light which means if you extend the head of the lamp out very much it tips over. The picture of the item shows it in its best position.

The knobs to clamp the arm are good and easy to use but the arm tends to slip so it has to be tightened down. I think this would be a problem for older/weaker hands.

It does not appear that the bulb is replaceable or at least easily. There are 4 phillips head screws that would need to be removed. I can't say if a replacement bulb is commercially available.

Magnifying lens is glass, clear, and works well.

This desklamp is fine for me, I use it 90% for just a light, but if I was going to be using the magnifying part a lot I would go find something else.

After numerous times of receiving junk via mail order, I no longer worry too much about the photos in the ads. Just as the shoddy nature of many items doesn't show up in the photos, nor does the quality. I had my usual 50-50 expectations about this lamp. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a very well made, sturdy, attractive magnifier lamp with the task specific functionality I bought it for (grinding rough edges from stained glass pieces before assembly). Another reviewer felt that the lamp was a little pricey, but I know from experience that we can all spend more and get less at times. This time I felt I got my money's worth.

The lamp is very nice. The neck can be longer. The price seems a little high, but you get a good product.
