This is a high quality lamp. Made with heavy gauge metal. I purchased the dark bronze and it looks great. It was a snap to put together. I really like the heavy base with it's hard rubber pads. It will not mark up my hardwood floor. The lamp is very easy to raise and lower and swing into place. One thing to note...... the lamp itself...... ie...... the curvature is not adjustable. It is a fixed metal curve.......

I'm very happy with this lamp. It is very high quality, easy to put together and takes any normal standard light bulb. Many of the other lamps I looked at had unique, hard to find light bulbs. I think this is a significant benefit to this product. Its also a good height, I think some of the others were shorter, and I needed a little extra height to match the height of my bed for reading. Prior to purchasing this lamp for my living room I was using a "swing arm" style lamp that had seen its days. I looked through quite a number of different types of lamps on Amazon and narrowed my search down to 4 lamps. I then read the reviews on each and decided on this one.My decision was based not only on appearance but also because another reviewer mentioned the heavy base, which is crucial for me as I have it on carpet next to my recliner.
When the lamp arrived it was undamaged and easy to assemble. I added my own CFL bulb and happily discovered that with my "100 watt" equivalent CFL the light output was actually too much as the lamp has a silver reflector plate that reflects light out into the room. I decreased my CFL to a "6o watt" equivalent bulb and the light is perfect for reading and other uses. This lamp also uses the "old fashioned"standard bulbs.
This lamp is well made and handsome in appearance and does have a "heavy base" that provides stability even on carpet.
I highly recommend this lamp if you are in the market for this style lamp. I would recommend this lamp to a friend.

You get what you pay for. I purchased this lamp because the pictures looked similar to lamps costing $100 more. It arrived with a nick in the base and a slight bump in the shade (manufactured that way, not a shipping problem). It is not solid dark bronze but accented by brass colored lines on all the edges of the shade and in concentric circles on the base, making the overall effect that of a cheap lamp. I went back to look at the photos and even enlarged, this does not show. Although the base is heavy, it still leans a little. Not a huge fan of on-line shopping, but this floor lamp was just what I was looking for. Attractive, functional and a great price.
