These lamps are pretty and perfect hight for living room lamps. The only drawback is the are listed as being a 3-way lamp. I have tried both lamps and they do not have that function

The lamps are nice to look at, they do put out a lot of light and are the perfect height for the living room. However, as these were a gift for my son and his wife and thought I was getting them a set of well made lamps I learned upon my visit that the entire base of the lamp is nothing more than decorative plastic. These lamps are just ok. Viewed from a distance they look fine but up close their finish is really cheap. The assembly was fun especially screwing in the light socket to the base. The instructions tell you to make sure you don't twist the electrical cord. Try screwing it in about 20 turns and tell me how you avoid twisting it? Good luck with that! I had to cut into the sticky foam covering on the bottom of the base, remove it and untwist the cords. The next step was to install the metal frames into the shades. One turned out fine and the other ended up with a twist to it instead of the square shape it's supposed to have. All in all, a very CHEAPLY made product at a not so cheap price. I was looking for something like this and saw them in a local store then found them on Amazon. They were almost 1/2 the cost. They needed some minor assembly, but this was easy.
