While I love the look of this lamp and it gives an ambient light, I have had it for less than 6 months and the cord you have to pull to turn the light on and off pulled right out of the lamp. Now it looks nice but will not serve its purpose of adding some light to the room. At this point, I basically paid for the shade.

If the cord could be made stronger (mine was really not used beyond normal use in any way), I would highly recommend this light for an ambient lighting need due to the bulb wattage required. Right now, I can only give it 3 stars.

I accidentally ordered this adapter because it was listed on the Zelco LED booklight page but it only works with the bulb version. There is a different AC adapter for the LED booklight so make sure you are getting the right one.

The plug cannot be correctly plugged all the way into the adapter, which means that every time you move it becomes unplugged... then you have to get out of bed to plug it back in.

Other than that, I love not having to buy batteries all the time for a booklight.

The adapter works well with the Booklight and the cord that comes with the Booklight is long enough that it will reach it from any plug. I like the fact that it does not have a cord attached to it like some of the others do. It is much easier to pack around since you do not have to wind a cord nor have to worry about breaking the cord when winding it up while not in use.

This is terrible. The booklight plugs directly into the adaptor so there isn't any extra cord. That means you can only use the booklight if you are within 6 feet of the outlet. Additionally, the paperback booklight cord doesn't plug all the way into the adaptor so you can easily unplug it by turning over in bed. Then you have to fumble in the dark trying to plug it in again.

Since this is the adaptor recommended by the itty bitty booklight company, I see no hope.

I had been looking for a floor lamp for my rustic decor and this one is perfect! I didn't have room for a table but wanted room for a drink and the remote so the floor lamp with the table is perfect and there aren't many to be found in stores. The lampshade looks like leather and I am very pleased with the overall quality of the lamp and the table. The only disappointment I had was it doesn't use three-way bulbs. Went back and read the on-line description and it didn't say it was 3-way so I shouldn't have expected it...but I did. Most of the time my 3-way bulbs burn-out two anyway.

It's pretty and good quality, looks nice, but be forewarned that unlike some such lamps where the cord attaches through the bottom, with this one the cord attaches to the outside of the base, so there is definitely a front and back to the lamp. If you are facing the lamp with the cord going out the back, the lamp swings to your right only. Keep that in mind when you're deciding where you're going to put it. I have to return mine because of this.

+4 for looks, -1 for stability. I find it tips easily when you extend the arm completely. The base does not seem as heavy as the other Kichler lamps I have.

The lamp harp has a strange shape (compresses inside of the socket housing) and is not the usual post type with retaining ring. That makes replacing the harp to fit a CFL bulb difficult without using a socket extender. Why can't I find a 3 way extender anyway?

Quality is top notch though.

Update 7/8/2011: I did find some 3-way CFLs that fit perfectly. GE 47448 12/23/29-Watt CFL (50/100/150-Watt equivalent) Energy Smart Spiral 3-Way Light Bulb.

Received lamp well packed and in good condition. The finish is better described as ebony rather than bronze, though there is a faintly lighter hint of patina on edges. The shade is a pale champagne color. The base is weighted and very solid, so even with the swing arm extended, the lamp is stable.

This lamp looks great and feels well made. I was a little annoyed that it was black with a very subtle bronze edge not like the picture which appears to be rubbed bronze. It gives it a chess piece look.

Seems like a nice lamp and thought I had want I wanted for a bedside reading lamp. However, the lamp I received did not have a 3-way switch -as advertised on Amazon. Just takes a single wattage bulb. The description of the product clearly states that it accommodates a 3 way light bulb. However, there is no mention of this on the paperwork that comes inside the box or on the box itself or on the lamp. I tried a couple of 3-way bulbs in it to make certain that it wasn't a bad bulb. I think they pulled the old bait and switch on me. Returning it immediately. Too bad.

Its a shame people leave bad reviews because of color issues. The lamp is beautiful. Granted, the photo does not exactly show the colors perfectly, but IMO the actual color is nicer than what is pictured. The tones are basically the same, but the photo has washed out the color a bit. Also keep in mind that this is a mini lamp, not a full sized table lamp. I'm using it for a desk lamp and its perfect.

I was expecting that the "polished steel" would look more shiny and chrome like however, to my pleasant surprise it's actually more of a "brushed steel" which in my opinion is more classy and modern. The lamp requires some assembly but it's very easy. It is feels sturdy and appears to be well made so far. I love the goose-neck to allow you to adjust the angle. It's harder than one might think to find a floor lamp with a goose-neck especially one that looks so nice.

The only complaint that I have is with the shipping more than the lamp. My free compact fluorescent light bulb was completely shattered and there was little glass pieces everywhere inside the box. That combined with the mercury found inside the bulbs made unpacking a lot more precarious than it should have been. The CFL needs to be packed much, much better or not included at all I don't even live in California.

I don't know what's wrong with this company, they simply do not know how to ship their products. I read the other review where the product was badly damaged and assumed it was a fluke. That stuff happens once in a while. I got my package and immediately knew something was wrong. It looked like a car had run over it. I opened it, the base was dented, but worse, some plastic piece had broken off and jammed into the lighting fixture, making it impossible to screw in a bulb and impossible to use the lamp. Had to return it. I order a ton of stuff from Amazon and hardly ever return anything. Amazon's return service has been wonderful as always, but seriously, you're a LIGHTING company, learn how to pack lights.

Before ordering this lamp, which arrived today, I checked carefully all over the web, reading reviews, and comparison shopping. I was very disappointed with the quality of the lamp. I'm keeping it because it's too much trouble to repack and re-ship (which I think manufacturers count on), but the metal had small dings in two places, and was bent in another. It was easy to assemble (once I used pliers to "unbend" the part) and will suit its purpose until I find something better, but that's the best I can say. This experience will prevent me from ordering from this manufacturer again.

We recently bought a new home and have been buying A LOT for the new home both at retail stores, but mainly online. So when these lamps arrived, (after many other packages arrived) I was VERY happy at how well they are packaged! We have had so many nightmares just because of poor packaging! There are 2 of these lamps in the package so the price, I think, is very good for what you get. They look great and I think they look better than the picture and fit our style in the home. We are very happy with this lamp! Ordered it on Thanksgiving weekend and it was here in 2 days! Great packaging as well. I usually never write reviews but this lamp is a good buy. Looks expensive and is perfect for our living room.
